Welcome to Service Cycle. The goal is to use the Blog to highlight bicycles Service Cycle finds interesting. We will start things off with my own 1989 Schwinn Paramount custom build. This was my dream bike in high school. I remember seeing almost the exact paint scheme in the 1989 Paramount catalog. A few years ago the opportunity presented itself to acquire a frame, fork, and matching bottle cages. It has been built up with full 6800 Ultegra and Dura Ace pedals. I handbill the wheels using Mavic Open Pro rims and DT spokes in black. Looking at the order form from that era reveals that the original purchaser checked nearly every 'extra' available. Custom geometry (longer top tube), a MTB seat tube with a 27.0 inner diameter, 2 tone black/White fade was paint extra, and then the flame torch finish was an additional paint extra after that, and the finishing touch was the Schwinn 'Team' decal set.
